Abstract

This article presents a review of selected literature that explores the role of context in the field of user experience, with the aim of identifying the structures that are part of it. Previous research has identified that context has a direct impact on user experience, but it has not detailed how its complexity should be addressed. The results indicate that there are at least eight structures to a context: spatial, systemic, social, cultural, situational, temporal, economic, and political. The identified structures can act as a starting point to study the ecosystem of an object and to develop informed solutions in the field of design for experience, or improve knowledge in the field of user experience.
