This article analyses the most relevant political events occurred during the year 2012 in Uruguay. It states that during the third year of Mujica’s government the political dynamic changed, due to the internal power realignments of the Frente Amplio and the transformation of the relationship between the government and political parties of the opposition. The debate on an advanced liberal political agenda (abortion law, equal marriage and marijuana legalization), the bankruptcy of the national airline PLUNA, as well as the international media sensation of President Mujica, gave a prominent presence of the country in the international press. Furthermore, the creation of the Technology University and the approval of the deep water port were also events of political importance.
