The Syrian-Chilean writer Benedicto Chuaqui is the most renowned figures among the America’s Arab immigrant writers in Chile. His literary production has been largely praised in the national scene of Chilean literature and the great literary critics of Mahjar (from Arab literature in America) have praised his works. With the aim of discussing the most important features of his profuse career, we focus on his attitude as a thinker, his work in the dissemination of Arab culture and his relationship with his Syrian homeland. To illustrate this point, two fragments of his essay production, translated from Arabic into Spanish, are included. Finally, we carry out bibliographic review of his work.
